Wedding Photography at Quat Quatta and Victoria Barracks

This wedding had a beautiful mix of everything we loved - the green walls of the Victorian Barracks, Kamesburg Gardens and the lovely venue Quat Quatta. But more importantly, we saw a couple in love, their emotion, and a wonderful union of two families. Matt and Sandy chose an evening courtyard ceremony at Quat Quatta which meant a dinner reception and the chance to grab some gorgeous twilight shots with the fairy lights.

This wedding had a beautiful mix of everything we loved, including our favourite venue Quat Quatta. But let's start at the Sage Hotel in Ringwood. I never knew this hotel existed above Eastland Shopping Centre. It was new, clean and contemporary and provided us with some excellent photo opportunities with the groomsmen.

Tea Ceremony

The boys then headed off to Sandy's apartment in Mitcham where the bridesmaids had some games in store for them. If you're familiar with traditional Malaysian weddings, then you'd know what this is all about.  The guys had to pass a series of tests to win the hand of the bride. We've seen some pretty outrageous tests, but Sandy and the ladies kept things pretty tame for Matt and the boys, who simply had to eat a pungent fruit (durian), wax their legs and sing a song.  This was followed by a Chinese tea ceremony.

Royce Hotel Melbourne

We checked into the Royce Hotel on St Kilda Road where Sandy prepared to wear her wedding dress and we captured some beautiful "getting ready" shots. Shortly after, the gorgeous bouquets of flowers arrived and Sandy and her bridesmaids then looked complete!

Victoria Barracks and Kamesburgh Gardens

Matt and Sandy had planned a "first look" at the Victoria Barracks just up the road, so Matt went ahead to wait for his beautiful bride to arrive.  We love these shots of Matt excitedly waiting as Sandy walked up behind him. There were so many more images that caught the emotion of the moment and we know they'll treasure it forever! The clouds rolled in and the weather became cooler. We had planned a shoot at Princess Pier, but as a last minute, warmer alternative, we headed to Kamesburg Gardens for some fun photos in the wide open spaces.

Getting Married at Quat Quatta

Matt and Sandy chose an evening wedding in the Quat Quatta courtyard.  We love evening weddings here, as the sun is low and all the guests are comfortable in the shade. By the way, if you're contemplating having your wedding at Quat Quatta but can't decide between a lunch or dinner reception, please read our Quat Quatta Review which might help!  Also check out the photos we took of Ken and Avita's lunch reception at Quat Quatta (they too stayed at the Royce Hotel and went to Kamesburgh Gardens!)

Matt and Sandy had their dog Max walk down the aisle. He seemed to know exactly what to do :) And to top this off, Matt sang Sandy a song as part of his vows. Brilliant!
